This is old news, but new to me - comedian Hannah Gadsby has autism. I always get a bit of a happy glow when a prominent or successful woman with autism discloses her diagnosis. Twenty years ago Temple Grandin was about it for female autistic role models, and I must confess I’ve never warmed to her, although I respect and appreciate her accomplishments and her breaking ground for other autistic women.
Now we’ve got women like Hannah Gadsby, Susan Boyle, Daryl Hannah, Anne Hegerty (The Governess from The Chase), Liane Holliday Willey, and many more. The awareness that autism isn’t only something that men have is growing.
