Hospital run first aid course or St Johns?

firstbaby2019's Photo firstbaby2019 10 Jun 2019

Hi all,

We have been given a brochure for a first aid course run at Prince of Wales in Randwick $360+ GST per couple which seems like a lot. They say they cover fever, infection, breathing issues, head injury, choking, limb injury, burns, allergies, vomiting, dehydration. 6 hours long.

The other alternative I've heard of is the one run by St John's Ambulance which is 4 hours, $170 per couple and covers
  • Resuscitation of an infant or child
  • Choking
  • Control of bleeding
  • Poisoning and acute illness
  • Management of shock
  • Wounds
  • Burns
  • Bites, stings
Anyone done either of the courses / can recommend either? Thanks.

I personally think you will get just as much out of the St. John’s course as you would the hospital course.

I did the St John’s children’s one and thought it was pretty comprehensive

If it's the same certificate (Provide First Aid - nationally accredited) then either course should cover everything.
